“Bare & Brazen” (1991–1995) is an erotic study of propulsion rather than speed: a “sprint” driven by compulsion, tension, and the pull of what remains just out of reach. Emerging from the bodily logic of swimming—resistance and surrender in the same motion—the series follows desire at its threshold: expressions are earnest, power held in suspension, the moment before release. Influenced by Mapplethorpe’s clarity but refusing mastery, the gaze here lingers and draws near—more proximity than possession. Shot on a Konica Autoreflex T4 35mm film SLR.
