“Bare & Brazen” (1992—1995): Sprint. The ‘sprint’ I refer to has to do with swimming, in that I suddenly was moved to begin experimenting with erotic photography from the perspective of the female gaze—in my case, the lesbian gaze. The expressions on the models’ faces are earnest and the general feel of the works in this gallery is of power about to burst forth and embrace. Robert Mapplethorpe’s daring work was a tremendous inspiration for this set.
