‘Casual audacity’ [in the eye of publicity! (1987—1995)]: Portraits. The affect is not erotic but laced with jouissance in its comedic displacement. The models, far from occupying the position of objectified spectacle, return the gaze with playful defiance, breaking the 4th wall. Their engagement with the viewer is not seductive but performative—a staged misrecognition that disrupts the usual economy of desire. Nudity here becomes a site of laughter rather than lack; their expressions strip the body not of modesty but of seriousness, rendering the naked form as something traversed by the signifier of the joke. I scanned the pictures that I took with a Konica AUTOREFLEX T4 35mm Film SLR Manual on film and then converted them to jpegs. *Click on each thumbnail to view the larger picture with details.
