‘The Sharp Edges of Life’ (2014—present): Digital photography featuring a selection of cutting edges. Each image stages a cut—not simply in composition, but in the subject’s relation to what is seen. The stark separation is not a flaw but a function: it is through this gap that the viewer comes into being. These scenes do not offer unity or identification; they offer lack. It is not that the places or objects carry negative value, but that they mark the impossibility of wholeness. We are not in them—we are barred from them. To view is to encounter the edge of the Real, glimpsed through the frame of the Symbolic. Even the most banal street corner may become the site of a fracture—because pedestrianisation, it turns out, isn’t just for the High Street. It’s a structure of traversal: a way of walking the line between what we see and what sees us.
